We’re looking for kids who love comics to come and talk about books, have fun, and share ideas. During each meeting of the Golden Nuggets kid club, we’ll have activities or events, watch movies and talk about what we have been reading. Plus, kids who join the book club will get 10% off of the purchase of all of our comic books. And if you want you can even bring your parents along for the fun! We’ll meet every Friday…

Silas House’s novel A Parchment of Leaves will be the topic of this meeting of Appalachian Reads book group. If is a story of a young Cherokee woman whose marriage to a white man takes her from her people and puts her in a mountain family plagued with tangled loyalties. The discussion will be facilitated by Jan Taylor, who teaches writing at Maryville College. The meeting is in the Dorothy Herron Room.

Join us for a DASH for TRASH on May 19th at Public House on High from 12pm-2pm! DASH for TRASH is a family friendly litter FUN-run. Participants will go out into the area for an hour to pick up litter as they “run”. This event not only focuses on improving our own health but also the health of the community. From the Blount County Library: Mini-Con’s coming back for its fourth year this June! Mini-Con is a tiny, scrappy amateur comic convention that’s made with love, enthusiastic volunteers and all of the amazing people that come out to spend the day with us. This event is out far in advance because we’re VERY EXCITED and have also had A LOT OF COFFEE TODAY.
